My Aviation Story
Dear fellow aviation enthusiasts,
If you're tired of looking for aviation, pilot and flying clothing that fits well, represents your real interests and is extremely comfortable then you have come to the right place.
Here is why: My name is Anthony Gandouin and I have been involved in aviation since I was 14 years old.
I will tell you more about my personal journey below, but first I want to tell you that I was frustrated and not confident with the clothing I was wearing for many years.
I was born in Germany and grew up in a low income household where branded clothing was for the "rich". I often felt left out and as if I didn't belong well because I couldn't afford to wear the same clothes as other kids wore to school.
This frustration led me down some negative paths and my mother could tell things wouldn't end up well for myself and my brother.

My mother, being the smart lady she is, relocated us to Canada for a fresh start when I was 12 years old. It was a new beginning, a new world. But some things didn't change. She had a very difficult time finding a good paying job and therefore we continue to live in some form of poverty.
I continued to wear used clothes, and items bought at discount stores - I was bullied.
A shining light of hope entered my life, however. That shining light was the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program. Everyone wore a uniform, so I wasn't judged on my clothes. I could be me, and fit in for my love of aviation.
This is where my passion for aviation really grew and I became heavily invested in all things flying. I dedicated my life to flying and to soaking up all of the opportunities that were presented to me.
For those who do not know, in the Air Cadet program a select number of people get the opportunity to earn their glider and private pilot licenses through the scholarships. This was my new focus.
At the age of 16, and after studying for a whole year prior I was selected as one of just 50 people in my region to receive my glider pilots license. One year later, I applied for the private pilot scholarship and had the pleasure of being selected as one of 25 people in my region. I was thrilled!
A few years went by and I decided to go to university to study business administration. I didn't really have an interest in business at that time, yet I was focused on joining the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot and wanted to enter as a direct entry officer - which meant I needed a degree.
Luckily for me, after working multiple jobs and still volunteering with Air Cadets, I was able to apply to the military and get a job offer - Air Force Pilot!
Things moved relatively quick from there. I went on to fly training aircraft and later even had the opportunity to fly the CF-18 for a little bit. I have also had the opportunity to instruct on the CT-156 Harvard II (T6 Texan II for my American friends).
As the years were beginning to go by and I grew older and started earning a decent income, I came back to this idea of needing to fit in. This meant I began buying brand named clothes.
However, as time went by I noticed one big thing about all of them: They were expensive, didn't always fit well, and did NOT change my perception of myself.
This was largely because those brands didn't represent my interests.
My search for clothing that represent MY interests, mainly aviation, began.
However, I noticed one big problem during this search.
I would buy t-shirts and sweaters that, sure had some airplanes on it and aviation themes, didn't fit well and often weren't even that comfortable.
Along came the idea to build my own clothing brand.
I spent a while picking out the right fitting type of tshirt, creating designs that resonate with aviation lovers like myself.
Herein BusterAvCrew was born.
As you can see in the picture above, my clothes from the beginning were always well fitting, not overly baggy around the arms and the body.
We achieved this with our tubular T-shirt designs. As you have probably noticed many tshirts are more of a square design... yet our bodies are definitely NOT square, well most bodies aren't.
I thrive on the idea of producing tshirts, sweaters and hoodies that will make you look good, feel good, and most importantly allow you to tell your aviation story!
So the question is: Are you someone who:
- loves aviation
- has been on a search for flying and aviation themed clothing
- wants their clothing to fit well
- want to represent YOUR interests and NOT those of the big brands?
Then you have come to the right place.
We are still continuously working on new designs, new products and working on making them the best that we can.
The t-shirts, hoodies and more we offer, are personally tested and guaranteed by me. I wear my own clothing because I love it - and so far all of our customers do too!
